“Alexakis Spiridoula”
Find and explore thousands of books in the collections available to Hospital staff, as well as patients and their companions. The “Alexakis Spiridoula” Library – Information Service is housed on the 1st floor of the building of the General Hospital of Corfu and is available for lending to Hospital staff, as well as to patients and their companions. The Hospital Library aims at the broader intellectual cultivation, cultural education and entertainment of users. In addition, it aims to meet the scientific and educational needs of Hospital staff, as well as all those interested in information related to Health Issues such as students, trainees, etc. Furthermore, it aims at the continuous development and expansion of both the educational and research goals, as well as the broader social role of the General Hospital of Corfu.
The Library’s electronic catalog provides access to over 3,000 items (monographs, encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc.), the number of which is constantly updated. The catalog includes four collections of Greek-language and foreign-language books to serve the diverse needs of the public:

- Old and Rare Books
The bibliographic description of the records is based on ISBD and AACR2, at various levels and adaptations. The layout of the records is in ISO 2709 / UNIMARC format.
